Adventure-Filled Wedding at Oakmere, Cheshire
Chloë and Jonty got married in August 2024 at Oakmere Events in Cheshire, with friends and family camping on site for the whole weekend. It was a relaxed, outdoorsy day full of home-grown flowers, a vintage car and a canoe on the pond. Super 8 was used alongside digital throughout the film.
Where it started
Chloë and Jonty first met on board a cruise ship. Jonty was working as a bike guide, and Chloë was on holiday with her mum.
A couple of years later they reconnected and started going on adventures together. Chloë moved to Brighton in 2019, and in 2023 Jonty proposed in the Lake District. He’d been carrying the ring around for ten months before it finally made it onto her finger.
A weekend, not a whirlwind
When they first got in touch, Chloë and Jonty said they were planning a weekend of fun. That was the heart of it.
They chose Oakmere because they felt at home there straight away. They love the outdoors, and guests could camp on site and be part of the whole weekend. It mattered to them that they’d actually get time with their friends and family, rather than everything rushing past in one day.
Flowers from home
Chloë did all her own flowers. Many were grown at home and brought all the way up from Brighton.
It’s the kind of detail that says a lot about a couple. Nothing on the day felt bought in or for show. It felt like theirs.
A very short drive
There was a vintage car too, and they took it for a little drive. A very little drive. But that’s not really the point with a car like that. It’s about the feeling of climbing in together, just the two of you, for a moment.
Ten minutes on the pond

The venue’s pond was one of the reasons they picked it. In the evening, Chloë and Jonty slipped away in a canoe for ten minutes or so, just the two of them out on the water.
It’s one of my favourite moments from any wedding I’ve filmed. Quiet, a bit silly and completely them.
The film
Most of my Real Weddings posts share a short trailer, but this one is the full story film, the same kind of film every couple receives. It runs to around seven minutes, because that’s what their day needed.
I filmed the day the way I always do, quietly and in a documentary style, letting it unfold without stepping in. Drone footage helps show off the setting, with the fields, the camping and the pond all in one place.
Super 8 adds a warmer, scrapbook texture alongside the digital footage. Out on the canoe in the evening light, it felt made for it.
I take on around twenty weddings a year, so every film gets proper time and care. I film quietly, giving you space to be present, and blend digital with Super 8 for a film that feels timeless and full of character. If you’re planning a relaxed, outdoorsy wedding in Cheshire and this way of working feels right, I’d love to hear about your plans.
